BEA Launches Two-Tier Channel Partner Program in Europe
Appointment of first Value-Added Distributor-Magirus-spearheads BEA drive to capitalize on growing demand for its solutions among European customers and extend SOA market expansion

LONDON—Jan 21, 2008—BEA Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: BEAS) a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software, today announced the extension of its channel partner program to Europe and the appointment of Magirus, a leading European IT solution provider, as its first Value Added Distributor (VAD) in Europe. The two-tier Value-Added Reseller (VAR) Program—available initially in Central Europe, Italy and the U.K.—will enable BEA to capitalize on growing demand for its enterprise infrastructure and virtualization solutions and extend Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) market expansion throughout Europe.

In addition to offering coverage in BEA’s core markets, the two-tier distribution model will extend BEA’s sales reach into the lucrative European upper mid-market sector (defined as organizations with between 1,000-2,500 employees). A recent BEA Partner Outlook survey revealed this upper mid-market segment as offering significant opportunities in Portal Solutions, Business Integration, Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), and Application Servers.
As part of the agreement, Magirus will distribute BEA products in the UK, Italy and Central Europe, with other territories to follow during 2008. An elite distributor of enterprise software and services, Magirus is focused exclusively on solutions for ILM/storage management, intelligent networking, security, IT management, virtualization, and open source.

BEA and Magirus will support these new channel distribution partners to maximize their success through sales mentoring, sales enablement training, technical training, technical support, pre-sales training and support, marketing and lead generation support, access to unlimited development software. Moreover, this two-tier model will not conflict with the existing direct sales force owing to clearly defined sales territories and rules of engagement with BEA sales and services teams. All of this is based on BEA best practices already in use in the U.S. and Asia.
